Consumer Preferences

The foundation of the demand curve is a derivative of consumer behavior.
Consumers are of paramount significance for an economy to work properly. They try
to maximize their utility by the consumption of goods and services.
But what determines consumer choices for goods and services! Let’s find
out.
Consumer preferences can be explained by many psychological and
microeconomic models such as consumer choice theory, indifference curve, budget
constraint, etc.
Consumers make day-to-day choices based on their limited income across
all available goods to get the best value, but for all consumer's the choice is
exempt from the costs of products and the consumer's income because such items
cannot decide the consumer's likes or dislikes.
The main objective of the consumer is to choose the set of bundles that
provide him the maximum level of satisfaction. The consumer according to his
taste can rank these commodity bundles according to the amount of satisfaction
obtained from it and thus choose the product which gives him the maximum level
of satisfaction.
Culture, society, individual tastes and education plays a vital role in
the selection of consumer choices.
Importance of understanding consumer preferences-
Understanding consumers is vital for managers as much importance is
given to maximize consumer satisfaction in modern marketing management.
And before a product or service is launched too. If the company fails to
read the consumer's mind, it can result in losses.
